Two Society members will attend the RAHS annual Affiliated Societies Conference at Mittagong this coming weekend.
The Football History Society affiliated with the Royal Australian Historical Society a number of years ago and now, where possible, uses the facilities they provide.
At the conference, the Society secretary will collect a $4,000 cheque from the Minister of the Arts. The money forms a grant under the NSW Government’s Cultural Grants Programme to assist with the publication of the Society’s book on the Impact WWI had on Australian Football in Sydney.
The Society is also working on a launch date for the book and at this stage have identified early April next year. They are yet to confirm details with the RAHS regarding using the premises in Macquarie Street Sydney, as the location for the book launch. However talks are well advanced with the son of a WWI Sydney footballer, himself also a player in the Sydney competition in the 1950s, to actually launch the publication.
Already, a number of people have put their name on the reservation list for the publication.
