On 15 August 1992 Sydney football took a momentous step in umpiring when they appointed all-female panel to adjudicate in a game at Trumper Park.

The match was between East Sydney and Western Suburbs Reserve Grade with Sharon Algar, Amanda Norris in the centre, Franca Shewell and Tracey Greene on the boundary and Georgia Morey together with Kristen Tona in the goals.

Apparently they did quite well with Wests winning the game by a street.

The girls were only subjected to the occasional sexist remark including one player who questioned goal umpire Kirsten Tona's ability to see with so much makeup on.
